Heaven Knows No Bounds.

"You know," Jeffrey chuckled to himself, "I really didn't think we'd survive this long..."

"Survive?" Erica asked playfully.

"I find it so strange that you can laugh at a time like this. Our world is ending. I know you don't believe it, but I think I do. There have been one too many screw-ups. I've said too many things the wrong way, and you've been too accepting of me. I can't live with that," Jeffrey clenched his corded fist and squinted, "I can't live with myself."

Erica tilted her head slightly, "what are you talking about, kid?"

"Please Erica, now is not the time for cute nicknames. Really. I'm talking about," he bit his lip, "I don't know how to say this, but I, I --- I don't think I can do this anymore. I don't think there can be an us anymore Erica. I'm really sorry but I, I just can't."

Erica slumped awkwardly into the couch and played with the large green beads around her neck.
"So...what you're saying is that you're going to leave this apartment forever and I'll probably only see you once every few months and by then you'll have really bad facial hair and ask me to take you back but I won't because of what you said today. I won't because you are trying to be dramatic and trying to get a reaction of me. You've done this before, Jeffrey - the only difference is now I've decided to take you seriously. So," Erica waved her hand coldly towards the door, "goodbye then."

Jeffrey furrowed his brow in frustration, "Erica---"

She closed her eyes, "Jeffrey, you said that we were bound by heaven and that heaven knows no bounds. Well, know what? Now you're completely unbounded," she smiled to herself, "heaven help you."
